How to compare a furnace quote with a hybrid option

Establish what has failed

Ask for the diagnosed fault, the proposed repair and an explanation of the condition of the rest of the furnace. Replacing an inexpensive failed component and replacing a deteriorated system are different recommendations. Have the provider explain the evidence supporting either choice.

Compare the full alternatives

Request a standalone furnace price and, where suitable, a separate heat pump or hybrid design. Check the proposed capacity, indoor equipment, controls and work needed at the panel or ducts. Compare gross installed costs before any rebate or finance payment is shown.

Verify funding before installation

When a qualifying heat pump is included, a participating HRS contractor submits a pre-installation application. Approval must arrive before installation. A furnace-only job cannot be made eligible merely by calling its price an HVAC upgrade.

Document the final choice

• Record what is kept and what is replaced.
• List model numbers and exclusions.
• Identify who submits each application.
• Keep approvals and the paid invoice.
