Home Renovation Savings Program (HRS)
Ontario Furnace Rebates helps homeowners navigate the Home Renovation Savings Program (HRS) — Ontario’s main furnace and HVAC rebate, delivered by Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas and backed by the Government of Ontario. It replaced the HER+ program.
- High-efficiency gas furnace: $1,000–$2,000 for qualifying upgrades.
- Air-source heat pump: up to ~$2,000 (natural gas homes); up to ~$7,500 (electric, oil, propane, wood) at about $1,250/ton.
- Geothermal: ~$3,000 flat for gas homes; up to ~$12,000 for non-gas ($2,000/ton).
- No energy audit required for a heat pump as a single upgrade.
- Timeline: confirmed through November 2026, can close earlier; contractor registration closes May 31, 2026.
Heat with oil? You can stack the federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program on top — and finance the rest with the interest-free Canada Greener Homes Loan.
