Before accepting a replacement recommendation, request the fault and repair price in writing. The condition of the heat exchanger, combustion components and other equipment should be assessed by the qualified responding provider.

Compare the repair with a gross furnace replacement price and, if appropriate, a designed heat pump option. A funding maximum should not make a more expensive project look unavoidable when the actual alternatives have not been explained.

A furnace-only replacement has no HRS heat pump rebate. If the proposal includes a qualifying heat pump, check its separate equipment, rate and mandatory pre-approval. The city does not create a special provincial furnace entitlement.
