Furnace planning in Toronto: access and removal in a constrained property

When a heating replacement involves a narrow stair, shared entrance or limited mechanical room, ask how the old equipment will leave and the new equipment will enter. Access labour and property protection should appear in the scope rather than emerge as a surprise on installation day.

For a hybrid option, also identify outdoor-unit placement and the route for refrigerant lines. The furnace replacement and heat pump work have different physical requirements, so compare complete scopes.

  • Measure doors and stairs.
  • Identify items that must move before the visit.
  • List protection and disposal in the quote.

Check the rebate line

A furnace-only replacement has no HRS heat pump rebate. If the proposal includes a qualifying heat pump, check its separate equipment, rate and mandatory pre-approval. The city does not create a special provincial furnace entitlement.
